Reading at Merit Academy Preschool
 Learning to read is fun at Merit!
In preschool, students begin the reading readiness program by learning alphabet names and sounds, phonograms (and other letter blends), and sight words. They read starter or primer books on their own and follow along with their teacher as they explore the world of reading. The students participate in the 1000 Book/Chapter Challenge. They read for pleasure and for Social Studies.
