John organized and presented the Loves in Heat Music Festival. During his junior year, Merit helped John to brainstorm about various ways to explore his career options. He wanted to learn more about the music business as a career possibility so he met with local musicians, rented a hall, promoted the concert, and managed the event. John enjoyed meeting with band members and managers but found it frustrating when they didn’t keep appointments or follow through on promises. To avoid further problems, Merit helped John to negotiate with musicians and their managers, write contracts, layout a event flow chart, and negotiate terms with artists. John’s concert was a huge success and what’s more, he applied to music business colleges to pursue his dream of promoting concerts.
