After spending 5 years on Merit's Hydrogen Fuel Cell Team, Jaclyn D'Arcy explored other alternative energy solutions to our current energy crisis. She researched alcohol fuel and organized a consortium of alternative energy business owners to find America's future energy source. When she entered high school at Merit Academy, Jaclyn decided to create a non-profit organization that would promote the hydrogen economy. Kids 4 Hydrogen, a 501C (3) non-profit organization, was founded in 2003.
Jaclyn developed her website www.kids4hydrogen.com to educate the youth, as well as their parents, about the hydrogen economy. She established relationships with hydrogen organizations like the National Hydrogen Association, American Hydrogen Association, and Hydrogen Nation Magazine, to promote Kids 4 Hydrogen. She spoke at conventions and provided demonstrations and presentations at schools, colleges, and conventions. Jaclyn has met with celebrities like Dennis Weaver, Larry Hagmann, and Shelly Fabre to encourage them to support Kids 4 Hydrogen. By updating her website with the latest news on hydrogen fuel cells and hydrogen refueling stations, she keeps her members abreast of new developments. In 2004, Jaclyn flew to Washington, DC to meet with Senator Diane Feinstein and Congresswoman Anna Eshoo to discuss Kids 4 Hydrogen's mission and to get their support. She also joined Anna Eshoo's Student Advisory Board and present her environmental impact report at the 2004 Annual Meeting.

In 2004, the American Lung Association asked Jaclyn to speak at the Breathe Easy Awards Ceremony celebrating Governor Arnold Schwartzenegger's leadership in California's clean air programs. Before 200 guests at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Jaclyn shared with the audience her enthusiasm about hydrogen as America's next energy source. She was approached by American Honda, who offered her a Honda FCX (fuel cell car). Then Secretary of the EPA Terry Tamminen, invited Jaclyn to be Governor Arnold Schwartzenegger's VIP guest at the unveiling of the First Hydrogen Refueling Station at LAX. Before dozens of TV cameras, Governor Schwartzenegger drove up to the event in a Hummer powered by hydrogen gas. He introduced Jaclyn and Kids 4 Hydrogen, and he and his office have supported Jaclyn's effort to promote hydrogen.

Working with Dr. Jay Keller, Sandia National Labs, as her mentor, Jaclyn researched hydrogen internal combustion engine (ICE) redesigns and toured labs at Sandia and Stanford University. She worked with several engineers to learn about the latest movement in ICE Hydrogen redesigns. Discouraged by the many problems that lace the ICE conversion process, she has focused her attention on promoting hydrogen fuel cell cars.

In 2006, Jaclyn was invited for a 5-hour business meeting with the marketing and research and development directors at American Honda. They gave her a tour of their facilities and the innovative hydrogen refueling station in Torrance, CA. Interested in their marketing program and plans for the Honda FCX, Jaclyn is negotiating a possible partnership between Kids 4 Hydrogen and American Honda. Jaclyn's years of experience running several businesses and her passion for promoting the hydrogen economy make her an ideal partner.
